Read the whole story:

What began as a clear vision for this painting turned into something entirely unexpected, thanks to a few scratches left by my son, Alex.

It was the perfect day for painting—my child were happily playing, and they both fell asleep almost simultaneously, which rarely happens. Overwhelmed with joy, I jumped into painting, gently wetting the paper and capturing the wave in one go. The colors blended perfectly, and everything was coming out beautifully—just as I had imagined.

However, when I noticed the scratches Alex had made with the corners of my hake brush earlier in the day, I was unsure what to do. I was thinking to paint on the back side of the paper, hoping the imperfections would be hidden, but by the time I start painting I already forgot about the scratches. As much as I wanted it to be the perfect wave painting, I couldn't get upset with Alex. All I could think of was how beautiful this painting had become, despite the imperfections.

Instead of discarding it as I would have a year ago, I realized this piece had a deeper meaning. The scratches embodied my son’s presence, and the happy, unintentional collaboration between his playful energy and my art.
